LILY THE ART BOAT

In the next couple of months I will be launching Lily the Art Boat—a converted canal boat that will travel around the UK as a floating art studio and gallery.

I’ve been living on a Narrowboat around London for the past 7 years. My studio has been based in Hackney Wick but it has always been my dream to travel the UK.

Finally my dreams are coming true after unexpectedly stumbling upon a neglected boat last year. I immediately saw the potential and managed to track down the owner to make an offer. After being on land for the past decade, she is almost ready to be regain her rightful place in the water again! I have been doing all the renovations myself and it has been HARD work but I can finally see the end.

On my adventure, I will be hosting free, small-group art workshops designed to support mental wellbeing through creativity. I will also be open to the general public along the towpath to encourage the use of canals for mental wellbeing and to showcase my artwork.

There are lots of costs involved with making this project happen, so earlier this year I put in a funding application to help with running workshops and events. Unfortunately, it was rejected! The costs include materials, equipment and of course my time. So I am hosting my own fundraiser through my online shop. I’ve been clearing out my studio and have lots of more affordable pieces and all the proceeds will go towards the project.

If you’d like to donate to the project without buying some artwork. I have set up a donation link here!
